Prayer in the Dark

When the stars are broken

And there is no dawn

And You have not spoken

And the sun is gone

My heart is lead

At Your silence

My hopes are dead

Without Your presence

The night does not end

I cry into the dark

No faith but to send

My prayers to your heart

You said 'Seek and you will find.'

You leave no lamb behind

You were the One who paid the ransom

I will trust You for Your answer

You said 'Knock and I'll open the door.'

My questions you will not ignore

Let my hopes, my fears and my loss

Be laid down at the glorious cross.

When the night seems endless

And your word is wait

Let me not be restless

Let my walk be straight

My heart is weary

But I look to You

For I know you hear me

And You will be true

And the sun once rose

On an empty grave

So I keep my hope

And offer my praise
