The Snakes and the Shepherd

There's a snake in the garden

There's a serpent round your head

If you listen to its whispers

Your soul will end up dead.

There's a wolf with the sheep

And he's smacking at his jaws

Run, run, little one

Or you'll end up in his claws.

There's a liar in the pulpit

Who wants to see you chained

But man's power and man's pride

Will leave your soul yet stained.

Oh, run, run, run

From the darkness to the Sun.

Run, run, run,

No one can take you, none.

Listen to your Shepherd

Sit at His feet.

And gently He shall lead you

Till your Maker you meet.

Through a wild valley

To streams running blue

Though they broke His body

The Shepherd rose anew.

His laugh is like thunder

His face shining white

When He returns

The snakes flee in flight

Better run, run, run

Your time here is done.

Run, run, run

For the King already won.
