Far from sheltered harbor sails
A ship with silence at its rails
By dark it roams and day it moors
Through murky seas it nightly tours
The captain lone stands at the helm
A crew of one in deathly realm
He nightly screams in tortured mind
For distant treasure he cannot find
For once as man he sailed the seas
But greed then brought him to his knees
Once he had a softened heart
Before cruel gold tore it apart
Born in muck in a harbor town
Near grimy ships and waters brown
He sailed the sea while still a boy
And sought adventure for his joy.
A lass he loved there by the sea
Man and wife they hoped to be
But one more voyage he embarked
And he for death that day was marked
The seas were high that winter long
When from right he turned to wrong
For gold had caught his roving eye
And made him cheat and steal and lie
Shimmer of coin instead of sun
Had in his heart completely won
So cursed he was to still sail toward
Deadly adventure with no reward
And moon is now his only light
As by the day he must take flight
For gold he loved, so gold he got
And by the sun he’s never caught
